Carolyn Leevy is a certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). She has worked in the health and fitness industry for over 40 years.
After dedicating years to various health and fitness industry roles, Carolyn’s unwavering passion for working with older adults propelled her to a 30-year career as a Fitness Director in a Life Plan Community.
Carolyn’s career is marked by her unique contributions to the fitness industry. She has not only witnessed its evolution but also played a pivotal role in shaping it. Her direct involvement with local colleges and universities, where she serves as a learning advocate to students aspiring to work in the field of Geri-kinesiology, is a testament to her commitment to the industry’s future.
Carolyn is an adjunct faculty member at Montgomery County Community College, teaching and developing curriculum for their Exercise Science and Wellness program and serving on their Fitness and Advisory Committee.
She has an MA in Organizational Leadership and an Executive Coaching and Consultation certificate from the Townsend Institute-Concordia University—Irvine.
She has a BS in Health Sciences from Philadelphia University and an AAS in Health and Fitness Professional Studies from Montgomery County Community College. Carolyn’s pursuit of knowledge extends beyond her primary field. She has also studied and completed social gerontology, sports management, nutrition, and health coursework, showcasing her versatility and unwavering commitment to continuous learning.
Carolyn is also a certified Balance and Mobility Specialist from the nationally recognized “Fall Proof™” program from California State University Fullerton’s Center for Successful Aging and a “Wellcoaches®” Certified Health and Wellness Coach.
Carolyn’s commitment to employee health and well-being extends beyond physical fitness. She recognizes the importance of employee voice and the need for wellness to encompass all aspects of life. As a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) champion, she has served on the advisory board of the Leading Age Leaders of Color in Aging Services and various DEI committees, demonstrating her dedication to promoting wellness in all its forms.
Carolyn’s entrepreneurial spirit is a shining example of her innovative thinking. She has created the workplace communication tool VENT (valued employees need to talk) ® and is the founder and owner of Firm Commitment Fitness, LLC, and The Geneva Project. These ventures not only highlight her ability to identify industry needs but also her innovative solutions to address them.
Carolyn recently retired from full-time work and has expanded her career to include workplace wellness consulting in Aging Services.
She and her husband Dwight, the love of her life, have been married for 45 years.
She is a professional gospel singer with her two sisters, aspires to become a jazz singer, and loves to play tennis in her spare time.
